My 1966 National League replay is chock-full of quality first baseman. How good are they? There were a total of four eventual Hall of Fame first sackers among the ten NL teams alone (plus one eventual NL President).
Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda didn’t make the cut. Neither did 1B-5 Philly Bill White. But don’t worry, you have plenty of big sluggers to choose from. It will be a tough choice.
If it makes a difference in your voting, these fielders’ ratings are all over the place. In order, they are Alou: 1B-2, Clendenon: 1B-3, McCovey: 1B-3, Banks: 1B-4 and Parker: 1B-5.
Bold indicates he currently leads the league in that category. To provide some statistical context, here are my replay’s top ten leaders in hitting categories as of July 3rd.
Vote for two!
