The ballot for second base in my NL 1966 basic game replay is kind of interesting. I find it a pretty strong offensive position considering the era of the sixties. It might come down to the kind of player or hitter you like.
One thing is for sure… you will find him here whether you like defense, power, on-base or even someone who takes one for the team!!
And because second base is an especially defensively important position, here are the APBA fielding ratings:
- Mazeroski 2B-9
- All the other nominees 2B-7
Yes, it’s that simple. Julian Javier, who didn’t make the cut, is a 2B-8. So is Atlanta’s Frankie Bolling who is hitting .198 with no HR.
Bold indicates he currently leads the league in that category. To provide some statistical context, here are my replay’s top ten leaders in hitting categories as of July 3rd.
Vote for two!!
Who should start represent the NL as secondbaseman in the All-Star Game in my 1966 replay?
- Lefebvre, Jim LA (52%, 45 Votes)
- Morgan, Joe HOU (20%, 17 Votes)
- Rose, Pete CIN (15%, 13 Votes)
- Beckert, Glenn CHI (6%, 5 Votes)
- Mazeroski, Bill PIT (6%, 5 Votes)
- Hunt, Ron NYM (1%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 55
