1966 NL replay All-Star ballot – Thirdbaseman

Yep, Taylor played third but he only has 1 HR and 17 rbis

Third base is kind of odd position for my 1966 National League replay. Some of the better teams are divvying up the playing time like Los Angles (Kennedy, Gilliam and Lefebvre) and Philadelphia (Groat, Taylor and Linz).

Yet, other teams have solid candidates and a few have outright stars at the hot corner. Take a good look at the stats. It may be tough to choose just two.

Here are the defensive ratings:

  • Aspromonte – 3B-4
  • Bailey – 3B-3
  • Boyer – 3B-4
  • Hart – 3B-3
  • Mathews – 3B-4
  • Santo – 3B-5
  • Smith – 3B-4

Bold indicates he currently leads the league in that category. To provide some statistical context, here are my replay’s top ten leaders in hitting categories as of July 3rd.

Vote for two!!

Who should start represent the NL as thirdbaseman in the All-Star Game in my 1966 replay?

  • Bailey, Bob PIT (19%, 13 Votes)
  • Hart, Jim Ray SF (19%, 13 Votes)
  • Boyer, Ken NYM (10%, 7 Votes)
  • Aspromonte, Bob HOU (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Smith, Charley STL (1%, 1 Votes)
  • Mathews, Eddie ATL (0%, 0 Votes)

I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
