John Brandeberry is done with his 1930 replay!
Last night, my family had Brando over for dinner and while he was over we played the World Series. The Philadelphia Athletics finished first in the AL in his replay as in real life but in the NL, the New York Giants with their combination of strong pitching, hitting and defense put them on top.
Rather than each of us take a team, John had an idea. He suggested that we switch off teams every two games. I liked the idea and I ended up with the A’s first. At first, it looked like Lefty Grove and the A’s would take it quickly as they got off to a 3-1 start but the Giants battled back to force a Game 7. Appropriately, it was Brando who piloted Philadelphia to a World Series victory winning Game Seven 7-2 over the Giants.
Brando and I both agreed that Lefty Grove should get the World Series MVP. Despite one loss in relief, Grove pitched three complete games wins in Games One, Four and Seven.
It was a tough series for Carl Hubbell (0-3) who was matched up with Grove. On the other side of things, Giant Mel Ott led both teams in homers with three.

Congratulations to Brando for finishing his season and thanks to him for letting me be part of it! Looking forward to the stats soon. I’ve heard bits and pieces of stats from it and their pretty outrageous!
Congrats Brando!
Nice to see the A’s win one. Sounds like it was a great series to roll. Do you have your next season to replay picked out or do you have a different project in mind?
