Check out Don George’s 1927 A’s replay!

TAB reader has just completed his replay of the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics. As always, Don does a great job of recapping the replay.

In Don’s replay, the 1927 A’s went 97-58. six games better than their actual performance.

Two things struck me when I perused Don’s extensive recap. One, Don’s A’s had a great road record at 52-26 (does anyone have any APBA mods for Home/Away effects?).

Two, Babe Ruth had an AWESOME year against the A’s in Don’s replay. We all know the year that Ruth had in real life in 1927. Don’s dice took it to another level.

To be fair, Ruth had a great season in real life against the A’s in 1927. He hit .319 with 9 homeruns in 72 at-bats. In Don’s replay, he hit .458 with 13 homers in the same playing time. Yikes!

As usual, there is a lot more in Don’s documentation. Stats, leaders, highlights… you name it. You can read Don’s full recap here. It’s well worth the read!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
