To quote the legendary Harry Cary “Hello Everybody…”
I wanted to have a more in depth report, but was not quite able to get as much info as possible, but I will make do with what I can. The top two teams in each division after all teams played each other once each.
After the round robin round the two top teams in each division were:
Thomas Division:
Bill Lilley 1968 Tigers
Matthew Pike 1998 Yankees
Abreu Division:
Clark Eichman 1975 Pirates
Craig Christian 1989 A’s
Banks Division:
Jim Welch 2002 A’s
Dick Butler 1969 Orioles
Bryant Division:
William Blair 1970 Orioles
Dave Rueck 1927 Yankees
Elite 8:
Bill’s 68 Tigers defeated Clark’s 75 Pirates 10-9
Matthew’s Yankees defeated Craig’s A’s 8-3
Jim’s 02 A’s defeated William’s 70 Orioles 5-1
Dick’s 69 Orioles defeated Dave’s 27 Yankees 7-2
Final 4: Bill’s 68 Tigers come from behind with a clutch homer off Rivera and win in extra innings 7-6
Jim’s 02 A’s beat Dick’s 69 Orioles 6-2
Finals: Bill and his 68 Tigers hold off Jim’s 02 A’s in a thrilling 3-0 finish.
Congratulations to Bill on his championship victory. Remember Bill, the crown weighs heavy. Additionally a tip of the cap to Jim on getting to the finals, and to all the teams that made it to the elimination rounds.
Tom and Jim, while I had a terrific time, it was not the same without you. And a special thanks to Doug for running the show as only he can! Let’s all remember how much work went into this for him. And last but not least Dennis Eckersley. (clean version) Dang you and your A rating! Gary Carter and the Hawk come up short again!!
Again, congrats to Bill Lilley and his 68 Tigers. He’s set the bar with that championship in Chicago. Now he’s bringing the same team to Toledo at the end of August.
Can he do it again?
CONGRATULATIONS BILL!….AND TO ALL GAMERS PARTICIPATING!…GREAT TO SEE A GANG OF FELLAS BROUGHT TOGETHER BY THE HOBBY !
Have a great weekend!
