Roving reporters at the Ed Zack Tournament at Cooperstown

I heard from my friend Bob Eller who I haven’t seen in a while. He and Jim Saska went to highly awaited Ed Zack Memorial Tournament. Bob sent this report and provided a couple photos!

Jim Saska and Bob Eller looking good!

Two Chicagoland APBA Tournament veterans were among 20 players at the Ed Zack Memorial Tournament on April 6-7 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Jim Saska reached the playoffs with the 2016 Cubs, while BobĀ EllerĀ managed the 2001 Mariners to a 5-5 record.

Busy at “work” at Cooperstown!

Ryan Morrison took home the championship with the 2004 Cardinals. A big thanks to Geoff Giordano from the APBA Football Club and APBA Hall of Famer John Cochrane for organizing and running the show. What a thrill to roll the dice in Cooperstown!

Thanks for the update, Bob! It looks like everyone had a good time. Congratulations to Ryan Morrison for taking the tourney championship!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. If you get the chance to make it to an APBA tournament at Cooperstown, I highly recommend it. An experience you won’t forget!
