Okay, 2017 Cody Bellinger may not be 1941 Ted Williams or 1911 Ty Cobb but for a draftable rookie, he’s a monster. In honor of the Boys of Summer 2018 draft which happened Sunday, he’s my pick for Monster Monday.
For the Dodger, Bellinger hit 39 homeruns in 548 plate appearances. He also hit 26 doubles while driving in 97 runs and walking 64 times.

Cody was pretty much a no-brainer for the first pick in the draft… and not just because of his card. He is no Darin Ruf. He can field (1B-4) and even steal a base .
But that’s not why he was drafted. Cody Bellinger hits the long ball. He boasts power numbers 1-1-0-0-0 and that is pretty fun. While he doesn’t hit for average (he has a 25-9), he does have four 14s which means he has a total of nine on-base numbers even against an A pitcher. And that’s not even counting the 61-41.
